On Monday, the bodies of ten Frontier Constabulary (FC) men were recovered after they went missing during their clash with insurgents on December 22.
Since then the whereabouts of the personnel were unknown and the military was conducting a search operation for them.
A sources on the condition of anonymity told, “This morning, we found the bodies of the men near Dabori. They were part of an advancing party that came under attack from the militants.”
It was further revealed that the bodies of the men were flown to Peshawar in a helicopter.
Although no one has claimed responsibility for the killing, military strategists believe it was the work of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, a splinter group of the Afghan Taliban fighting inside Pakistan against the Pakistan law enforcement agencies.
According to sources, in the clash on December 22, 2011 at least 22 military personnel including a major were injured while ten went missing.
Pakistan in the past few months launched an anti-terrorist offensive in the Upper Orkazai Agency to destroy terrorist hideouts, but have been met with severe resistance from the militants, who have ambushed military personnel on several occasions.
Pakistan is using heavy artillery and air support to pound terrorist strong holds, but instead of the army, the FC is leading these operations.
Just last week, the Taliban killed 15 Pakistani FC men and disposed the bodies in the area near Orakzai.
The Taliban claiming responsibility said that the killings were in response to the military operation launched in the areas near North Waziristan.
The area is believed to be the main headquarters of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and with the military expanding its offensive the terrorists are trying to express their strength by systematic counteroffensive programme against the Pakistan military.
The latest killings have come after there were reports that the Taliban leader Mullah Omer had warned the TTP not to carry out strikes against Pakistan.
