Pir Pagara passes away in London at the age of 83
Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 6:27:45 by Asma RafiqueSenior Political leader of Pakistan, Pir Pagara passed away in a London Hospital late Tuesday night after a prolonged lung illness.
Born on December 22, 1928 in his native village in Sindh named Pir jo Goth, Pir Pagara was chief of Pakistan Muslim League (functional). He was also religious leader of Hurs in Sindh province.
The original name of Pir Pigara was Shah Mardan Shah and was the fourth Pir Pagara, a title given to the leader of Sunni Muslim Sufi order of Hurs.
Pir Pagara was admitted to a hospital in Karachi last month after he suffered severe breathing problem. Later, the doctors declared his condition extremely critical and was flown to London last week through an air ambulance. There he was admitted in a private hospital in London. Doctors had earlier reported that Pir Pagaro had been improving but on Tuesday night, he suffered severe problems in breathing and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he could not survive a heart attack and passed away.
Family and party sources have said that his body will be flown to Pakistan for burial. Pir Pagaro’s dead body is expected to reach in Karachi on Thursday morning from where it will be moved to Sakkhur and then to his native village Pir jo Goth for burial.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani were in the meeting of allies late Tuesday night when they were informed about the seasoned politicians death. The President and Prime Minister expressed sense of shock and grief over his death. Both conveyed their sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul
A large number of people rushed to his residence after they received the news of his death through TV channels.
