PML-N moves resolution in National Assembly over water concessions to India

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has moved an adjournment motion in the National Assembly (NA) over alleged support of former Indus Water Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah to India for construction of dams in Occupied Kashmir.

The adjournment Motion was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s MNAs Birjees Tahir, Raja Asad, Shakir Bashir Awan, Malik Abrar, Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, Tahira Aurangzeb and others in the National Assembly secretariat Tuesday.

The motion said former Indus Water Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah has failed to present Pakistan’s case on every forum about dams on its share of water.

Referring to an investigative report, the PML-N said Shah also found responsible for helping India in constructing the Nemo bazgo Dam while he deliberately responded late against Indian controversial construction of dams.

It further stated a debate must be held in parliament over the anti-state behaviour of former Indus water commissioner and his negligence in protecting the national interest.

The parliamentarians were of the view that the main accused had escaped abroad while federal ministers were putting responsibility of the matter to one another.

On the other hand, Jamaat Ali Shah had rejected the charges saying that some close aides of the prime minister had influenced him to take unlawful decisions however; he refused to do so.

Talking to media over phone from Canada, Jamaat said he had not escaped abroad and was with her mother in a hospital. “I will return in the country soon and face all the legal process,” he added.

He vowed to disclose the names of all persons who according to him were involved in the matter.

It is pertinent to mention here that Syed Jamaat Ali Shah had managed to escape to Canada earlier this month despite his name was put on the Exit Control List (ECL) by the federal government.
