Thursday, January 12th, 2012 5:01:09 by Haris AnsariJerry Cantrell, Alice in Chains’ lead vocalist and guitarist, has revealed that the band is currently working on their new studio album and would be hitting the studio in the coming few weeks.
Alice in Chains (AIC), an American hard-rock band, made a comeback when they released their fourth studio album, Black Gives Way to Blues, with a new line-up in September 2009. The album received a great deal of appreciation and enjoyed healthy sales worldwide
while landing Grammy nomination.
The band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, who has also worked with legendary English vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, has revealed that they started writing for the new album last year. He also stressed that the band never intended to release the next album with a
gap of three years after releasing Black Gives Way to Blues. However, his shoulder surgery slowed the writing process of their new album.
“We started writing last year. I had shoulder surgery. I had to get some bone spurs and torn cartilage taken care of, so that put me back a little bit”, Cantrell said.
The 45-year-old guitarist then revealed that the band really miss Layne Staley, who died in April 2002, and stressed that amazing people always should be remembered.
“Layne’s mother’s been doing a show for Layne every year, and we give to that. It’s good to remember your people. Life is very temporary, and we will be joining them shortly. Hopefully it’s not too soon, but it’s good. It’s some amazing people that should
be remembered”, Cantrell concluded.
After their successful comeback, AIC’s fans are anticipating for another masterpiece from the band and would be hoping that the band come out with the new album at the earliest.
