Peshawar: (Wednesday, January 11, 2012) Brutal killing of Dr. Syed Jamal Hussain at the hands of his kidnappers as stirred a sense of insecurity among the young doctors. Perhaps that was the reason that yesterday, while protesting
over Dr. Hussain’s death, leaders of the Young Doctor Association (YDA) called upon the government to provide security to them and their families.
Expressing his concerns during a press conference, Dr. Alamgir, the president of the YDA Association asked the government to install close-circuit camera and deploy well trained security personnel at all major hospitals. He was
of the view that the government had failed to provide security to the doctors’ community. He said, ‘The doctors are feeling insecure in the wake of growing incidents of kidnapping for ransom and killings’.
Accompanied by Dr. Gulab Noor Afridi and other leaders of the doctor community, Dr. Alamgir said that they had time and again asked the administration of medical teaching hospitals to make proper security arrangements for them
but their please had fell on deaf ears.
The president of YDA alleged government of adopting a discriminator attitude towards the junior doctors who were not being provided with residential facility of equality basis. He ended up his remarks by saying, ‘The government
has planned to establish VVIP treatment centre (Bacha Khan Block) at the Lady Reading Hospital and has demolished the hostel for female doctors who were now compelled to reside in the male’s hostels’.
