HTC announces the new Titan II: Windows Phone-based LTE phone with 16 mega-pixel camera
Thursday, January 12th, 2012 4:55:52 by Usman KhalidAfter Nokia’s announcement of their first 4G LTE Windows Phone-based smartphone a day back at the 2012 Consumer Electronic Show, HTC followed the suit with its successor to the Titan line. The Taiwanese company launched second Windows Phone-based smartphone under the head of Titan, called the Titan II.
This new handheld is the first Windows-based smartphone from HTC that is LTE (4G)-based. The new smartphone has been embraced by AT&T in the US on their new and fast 4G network. Now the users will be able to surf the web on extremely fast speeds.
However, aside from the network capability, the phone also sports a whopper of a camera, a massive 16 mega-pixel snapper. So far this is the highest resolution a smartphone can offer in the market. Only Sony’s new Xperia S comes near this device with a 12 mega-pixel camera that was launched on the same day. Titan’s camera took some mesmerising snapshots that had the highest details offered in the market.
Besides the network and camera, there were not many changes made to the Titan II. There were some tweaks to the shape but in a subtle manner, keeping the signature look of the family intact. However, these changes could be considered upgrades to the line.
Instead of a plastic battery cover at the rear end of phone, the company has placed a solid cover with pocked texturing at the bottom of it. Overall, the phone was even more comfortable to handle than the previous model. However, the most amazing part at the rear end still remains the 16 mega-pixel stunner.
Other specs remain the same. The Titan II comes with the same 1.5 GHz single-core processor with 512 MB of RAM. The phone adorns the latest version of the mobile operating system by Microsoft, the Window Phone 7.5 Mango.
Microsoft claims that their signature operating system does not need a HiFi dual-core or quad-core processor because of the lightweight software. The claim remains unbeaten to date, as several stress tests have proven the fact that simple yet attractive WP 7.5 runs smoothly in every condition.
