Pir Sahab Pagara laid to rest

The funeral prayers of the Pir Mardan Shah-II, more commonly known as Pir Pagara, was offered at Pir Jo Goth on Thursday. Thousands of mourning people including mureed and devotees offered the funeral prayers led by the Pir of Jhang, Hazrat Siraj Ahmed Gilani.
Several political leaders – including Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Prime Minister’s son Abdul Qadir Gilani, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Minister Khuda Bux Rajar and former Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi – also attended the last religious rituals of Pir Pagara.
A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) led by Dr. Sagheer Ahmed also participated in the funeral prayer of the seasoned politician.
Born on December 22, 1928 in his native village Pir Jo Goth, Pir Sahab Pagara passed away in a London Hospital late Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest. He was being treated in Karachi since November 24 for a prolonged lung illness and was last week shifted to a private hospital in London the doctors declared his condition extremely critical.
Earlier before the funeral, Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi, the eldest son of deceased Shah Mardan Shah II was as the new Pir Pagara by 16 caliphs of Hurs.
Rashdi, the eighth Pir Pagar of Hurs, is the eldest son from late Pir Pagara’s first marriage and is usually known as Raja Saen. The two other sons from that marriage are Sadruddin Rashdi and Ali Gohar Shah.
