EP / PORTALTIC President of Sony Computer Entertainment, Kaz Hirai , has denied in a conference at the CES that Sony is planning to introduce the PlayStation 4 in the next E3 in June in Los Angeles. Hirai has said that in his opinion, is a PlayStation 3
console with a lifecycle of 10 years, so it is still premature to talk about his successor. In recent weeks the rumours were shot on Sony’s intention to present a new console at E3 video game trade fair to be held from 5 to June 7 in Los Angeles. Sources close
to Sony had leaked that the company would anticipate the launch of the successor to the PlayStation 3.
Rumours claimed that Sony would try to downplay the launch of Wii U and show its new console while Microsoft, which also could have the Xbox 720. However, Sony has denied these rumours and denied he will submit a new console at E3 this June. In particular
there has been Kaz Hirai, SCE’s current president and one of the parents of PlayStation. In a meeting with journalists, Hirai has said that there is no intention by the company to go to E3 to present the future PlayStation 4. With this emphatic denial, Kaz
Hirai makes it clear that we have to wait to see the successor to PlayStation 3.
In addition, Hirai has also provided some clues to the date on which the next generation of PlayStation could see the light. According to the statements of the president of SCE, compiled by The Wall Street Journal, Sony PlayStation 3 created with the idea
that I had a life span of approximately 10 years. Since the PlayStation 3 was launched in 2006, if Sony decides to respect Console strategy could take several years to see the light. According to Kaz Hirai there is no reason not to respect this strategy, therefore,
in theory, until 2016 there will be no new PlayStation.
After confirmation from Sony, it clears one of the unknowns of the E3, but there is still another. It’s about whether Microsoft will decide to introduce a new Xbox, as well as rumours suggest. The truth is that Microsoft has not denied as it has done in
this case Sony hopes that the company displayed a new console in June remain intact.

Avatar 2 and Playstation 4 in 2016?! Can 2016 get any better?
There are a few things that concern me about this. Even if they don’t ‘show’ the next console, they aren’t denying that they are in development of it.
Everyone keeps saying 10 year life cycle. I seem to remember the same statement for the PS2. And they stood by that statement by supporting it for the last five or six years since the PS3 has been on the market.
I can agree they won’t introduce the next console. I don’t agree that Sony will sit on their collective hands and wait until the 10 year mark of the PS3 to release the 4th gen system. I do believe the system will go retail in 2014-2015. It doesn’t matter what Nintendo is up to or Microsoft is planning as much as proper timing to make sure both the PS3 and the next console are both successful and profitable.
I’m comfortable with waiting. What I think Sony should do in the meantime is release a second version of PS3 that has more internal memory and a faster BD drive to help appease current complaints of the hardware, and give more options for developers. Technology today, along with the amount of space on BD discs, would allow the ability of the games to recognize which ‘version’ of a PS3 the user has, and to allow that type of experience.
It’s an opinion, plain and simple. Agree or disagree, it’s your decision. But listening to the same recycled stories without anything new added is getting old. And if we have to listen to it for the next year or so will get extremely frustrating to everyone.
Excuse me good sir: Sony has indeed said that their intention is for the PlayStation 3 to have a ten-year life cycle, sir. Sir, this means that Sony predicts sales of the PS3 to discontinue in 2016, sir. What you are suggesting to the world through this article, sir, is that Sony is not going to put out the PlayStation 4 until the PS3 discontinues. That is quite unintelligent, sir. Much like the PS2 and PS3 before it, the PS4 will be out three to five years before its predecessor leaves the market. Follow the crowd that says the PS4 will be released within the next two years; their logic makes further sense than yours. Have a good day, sir.
