Zeeshan Rehman signs for Kitchee SC

Former Fulham defender Zeeshan Rehman has penned a one and a half deal with Hong Kong giants Kitchee SC after parting ways with Muang thong United.

The 28-year-old has played at the highest level and remains the only Pakistani to have ever played in an English Premier League match. Having worked up his way at Craven Cottage, the centre-back then drifted around England, his last stint being with Bradford
City.

Despite being the skipper, the Green-Shirts’ International was sold to Muang Thong United in 2011, where he had been plying his trade for the last year or so.

However he chose to search for greener pastures and eventually ended up signing for Kitchee SC, citing that his need for a new challenge as the reason for his exit from the Thai league.

After signing a new deal with the Hong Kong outfit, Rehman said that he was impressed with the club’s ambition and was also a fan of how the club played its football.

“I am looking forward to getting started and taking up this new challenge. Kitchee play a very good style of football and put in decent performance against both Chelsea and Blackburn last year.”

“After meeting with the directors and owners of the club, I was impressed with their ambition and determination to take the club up a level. I want to play my part in helping Kitchee improve, raise the profile of the club and further progress in the AFC
Cup,” Rehman said.

Kitchee’s management also expressed their delight on having secured the services of a top quality defender and said that his arrival would only improve the club.

“Kitchee is happy to have secured Zesh as our Asian Foreigner for the upcoming AFC Cup competition.  Not only has Zesh played at the highest level in England, he has also demonstrated his leadership and good nature as an individual who share our values. 
We believe that he will make a positive impact at Kitchee and in Hong Kong Football.” President Ken Ng was quoted as saying.

As he is still yet to achieve his full potential, Zeeshan Rehman, will be of great service to Kitchee and should help the side maintain their status as one of Hong Kong’s best in the upcoming season.
