Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me is a 2010 computer animated 3D flick which is directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. It was released on July 9^th, 2010 in the United States and opened to number one at the box office. The movie feature voices
of Steve Carell, Miranda Corgrove, Dana Gaier and Elsie Fisher.

Despicable Me opened to number one spot at the Box Office and grossed $56.3 million, making it the third biggest opening gross for an animated film in 2010 behind Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After. However, in its second weekend, the flick dipped to 42
percent to second place behind Inception. The film then had another drop of 27 percent in its third weekend and finished in third place with $23.8 million. It bagged a total of US$251 million, against a budget of $69 million.

Summing up its box office performance, it is the sixth biggest film of Universal Studios, the fourth-largest animated movie of 2010 trailing Toy Story 3, Shrek Forever After and Tangled, the 16^th largest animated movie of all time and the 9^th
highest grossing film of 2010.

The film follows a criminal mastermind Gru, surrounded by a cute small army of minions, who is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He vanquished all who stand in his way until the evil mastermind encountered three little orphaned girls
who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls names Margo, Edith and Agnes.

The movie received generally positive reviews. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 81 percent of critics have given the film a positive review based on 187 reviews, with an average score of 6.8 out of 10. Site’s general consensus states, “Borrowing
heavily (and intelligently) from Pixar and Looney Tunes, Despicable Me is a surprisingly thoughtful, family-friendly treat with a few surprises of its own.”

IMDB gave it a score of 7.5 out of 10 from its 81,853 users and Metacritic gave it a score of 72 out of 100 based on reviews by 35 critics.

Despicable Me is a must watch 3D flick for everyone…. You’d definitely want to see it over and over again.
