Gillani takes a U-turn in his aggressive policy towards the Army

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gillani has taken a U-turn in his aggressive policy towards the Army and said today that his government fully backs the armed forces of the country.

The present government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its allies are facing a tough time through the judiciary and military of the country at the present moment of time.

Supreme Court of Pakistan is expected to announce tough verdicts on the cases of NRO and memo-gate controversy in near future. In order to save the face of the government, Gillani gave a couple of controversial statements last week against military as well
as the judiciary.

However, the Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani met the President of the country, Asif Ali Zardari today and the meeting seems to have melted the ice between the two institutions of the state.

While talking to the journalists, Gillani said that his government and the people of the country stand firmly behind the army. The Prime Minister claimed that his government does not believe in interfering in the domain of another institution.

The Prime Minister said, "Our government and parliament, and above all our patriotic people, have stood fully behind our brave armed forces and security personnel. It has been my government’s policy to allow and enable all state institutions to play their
role in their respective domains."

Gillani further added that Pakistan has the potential to become one of the leading countries of the world but for that, all the institutions of the state must develop a harmony among themselves. Pakistan is currently facing a lot of problems on domestic
as well as international front and the state cannot afford a tussle between its pillars.

“Each organ and state institution has to play its due role, within its respective domain, to bring forth the best in promoting Pakistan’s national interest. Together in complete harmony with each other and other vital institutions, we can change the country’s
destiny and accord its rightful place in the comity of nations," he added.

The military of Pakistan is currently doing a fantastic job in the war against terror and this is the need of the hour that the whole nation including the government backs its army.
