Alone in the dark

There are so many people who come into our life, only to leave one day. During their stay, everything that goes around us becomes blurry as we lose ourselves in them. Religion, politics, society, everything loses its significance and impact while our world
revolves around those people. Everything is just perfect, until one day the whole utopia comes crashing down to leave behind nothing but rubble of memories.
These memories are all we are left with to hold on to for support. Those people move on to apparently better things in life while having no regard for the void that they have left in us. While they were fully aware of what they meant to us and how much we
relied on them to make us complete, they simply moved on.
Whether it was an act of selfishness by those people, or simply fate making an effort to get its presence felt, one cannot be sure. However, the one thing that we are all aware of is the pain and its intensity.
One is forced to sit down and ponder over all the things that happened in the recent past to unravel the mystery behind the abrupt end to what was seemingly a smooth and perfect life. People do not just get up and leave unless we do something that sends
them running towards the exit door. Therefore, we sit and think about all the things that we had said and done to those people, trying to find the reason that may have led to the painful parting of ways.
In majority of the cases, we fail to come up with a satisfying answer to the question as to why these people left us. As far as love, trust, understanding and care was concerned, our generosity was indeed matched by none. As far as the other factors were
concerned, which may include the circumstance that we and those people were in, nothing seemed to be grave enough to break apart a relation that was expected to last forever.
There is no way to understand why certain things happen. It is also really hard to understand why whatever happened only affects us. Were we the only ones with high expectations? Were we the only ones who wanted to stay in Eden forever? Were we the only
ones who felt as if half our soul had left us with those people? Unfortunately, there is no way to know an absolute answer to these questions. Let us just hope that God takes mercy on us and strips us of the ability to love and care. If He does not wish to
do that, he may as well just take back what He lent us for a while, life.
