PFF to start Fast-Track programme
Monday, January 16th, 2012 3:49:15 by Shahrukh SohailThe Pakistan Football Federation is set to initiate its latest venture, the Fast-Track programme, this year starting off with the U-16 team.
Pakistan’s woeful performances on the International front have always been lamented due to the lack of talented youngsters in the country. The PFF are keen to find a solution to the problem and have devised a method which should give upcoming players good
quality coaching, as well as some much needed International exposure.
The Federation will hold training camps for both the U-16 and U-19 teams all year round, in order to maintain their form and fitness levels.
Coaching in this programme will be provided by the Aid-27 coaches, who will be paid on a daily basis rather than a monthly one. The U-16 has their first camp starting from the 25th of January, in which all the players from U-16 SAFF Cup winning
team are duly invited.
The main aim is hone their talents and ensure that they can be groomed for the U-19 AFC qualifiers that are to be next year. Sajjad Mehmood, who guided the team to the SAFF Cup victory in Nepal, is set to resume where he left off and take charge of the camp.
The U-19 Team will also follow a similar path and their camp is due to begin on the 25th of February. Shahzad Anwar is expected to be the head coach for this one and is tasked with creating a formidable unit that can put up a good showing in the
Olympic Qualifiers that take place next year.
The ‘Fast-Track programme’ could provide the National Team with a long line of talents, but for that the PFF will have to ensure that everything goes smoothly and according to their plan.
