Mansoor Ijaz was the main character who buzzed the entire episode of memogate scam. The panel directed Mansoor Ijaz, Husain Haqqani and DG, ISI Lt Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha to submit their statements by January 23 in the committee secretariat.

A meeting of parliamentary committee was held under the chair of Senator Raza Rabbani at Parliament House to discuss the inglorious memogate. The panel decided to summon all characters of this scandal one by one so they could be thoroughly probed.

The first invitee is Mansoor Ijaz, who is asked to appear before the parliamentarians personally on 26th of this month. According to the reports, Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani might also be directed to submit his statement.

Mansoor Ijaz has already stated that he would attend any forum in Pakistan, probing controversial memogate, including the PCNS.

It is pertinent to mention here that Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq, on the behalf of Government of Pakistan had written a letter to RIM on January 09 to provide the record of conversation between Haqqani and Ijaz. The Judicial Commission on memo scandal had asked the attorney general to write a letter to RIM.

The attorney general Monday informed the judicial commission that RIM has refused to release require data because of its privacy policy.

Earlier in day, Mansoor Ijaz through his lawyer Akram sheikh has sought more time from judicial commission till January 24 to appear. His Counsel Akram sheikh said that his client had applied for visa in Switzerland.

He said Ijaz was being threatened and he had given an application in this regard on January 12. Sheikh said that orders had been issued to provide security to his client.
