Forks Over Knives (2011) – Review: a real life horror movie
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 5:01:57 by Musa AfridiTaking a leaf out of An Inconvenient Truth’s page and shocking of everyday people is another documentary that is sure to open a few eyes and close a few mouths.
In the back of our minds we all know that what we eat, in one way or the other, is not good for us. We know it and we ignore it because there are no facts that support our wild imagination. That is until one is unfortunate enough to come across Forks Over
Knives, which literally flips the processed food world on its head.
The documentary starts off almost in the same tone as Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, showing the world being taken over by obese people instead of zombies and America’s health level on a rapid decline.
From then on it follows the story of one man who looks to try to improve his health by following a whole foods diet as well as two researchers who look to prove that the processed food industry is one of the main reasons that health levels in the US are
deteriorating.
The film explores everything, from how the standards are set by corporations and individuals on the payroll of the processed food industry to how consuming skimmed milk can lead to an increase in one’s chances of getting cancer.
It also explores how each generation tends to be unhealthier than the last and how the medical system focuses more on treating than preventing and curing the diseases.
Some may argue that the film is nothing more than vegan propaganda, as it strictly opposes the consumption of meat and animal related products, yet all it really does is present facts to justify its own thesis: the a diet of fruits and vegetables provides
ample nutrition on their own.
Verdict: While the film is not for everyone, one should take out the time to watch it. It is not the best piece of film making yet as a documentary it stands out and some of the issues discussed and stories in the film could go on to be
important life lessons for all.

That was excellent. Loved your humorous references to correlaries but it’s true! Really makes you THINK, doesn’t it? (love the companion book, too)
