London: (Thursday, January 19, 2012) Mansoor Ijaz, the central character of the memo case has been issued visa for Pakistan. The US national who stirred hype in political arena of Pakistan was asked to produce himself before the
Supreme Court bench probing into the matter on plea of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, there was news that faced with threats to his family and political pressure from the US the high profile businessman may choose not to visit Pakistan and to share his view point with the commission through teleconference.
In a bid to keep Ijaz from coming to Pakistan, the government also threatened him to charge with various cases and not to guarantee his security. Responding to which Ijaz had maintained that his hosts in Pakistan will take care
of these issues.
Today, when Ijaz applied for visa at Pakistan’s London Embassy, he was also given the summons of the parliamentary committee probing into the memo case.
According to Ijaz’s lawyer, Akram Shaikh, he is supposed to appear before the court on January 24, while Mansoor has also affirmed to appear before the parliamentary committee on January 26.
Since amid security purposes, he does not wish to disclose his travelling schedule with the media, Mansoor is expected to visit Pakistan on any day before January 24.
