Islamabad: (Thursday, January 19, 2012) The Foreign Office of Pakistan here today said that none of its embassies had received application for issuance of visa from Mansoor Ijaz.
Ijaz, the central character of the memo scandal is to appear before the Supreme Court bench by January 26, while his lawyer, Akram Shaikh has claimed that his client will appear before the commission on January 24.
Briefing the media reporters about status of Ijaz’s visa application, Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said that the American businessman was yet to apply for a visa.
Commenting on Pakistan’s relations with USA in the backdrop of NATO attack, Abdul Basit said that no decision about restoration of NATO supplies was taken as Pakistan wanted to build its relations with the US on mutual respect.
Responding to a question regarding Pakistan’s new Ambassador to US, Sherry Rehman’s meeting with President Obama, the FO spokesman said that bilateral matters were discussed during the meeting.
Replying to a question regarding allowing American envoy Marc Grossman to visit Pakistan, Basit said that the parliamentary process for the finalization of the terms of engagements with the United States and NATO was underway and
Pakistan wanted the visit to be after that so that it was productive and result oriented.
Addressing the question regarding presence of Norwegian Intelligence network in Pakistan, the spokesman said that Pakistan was in touch with the Norwegian Government and was seeking details into the matter.
