Peter Siddle keen to play Adelaide Test
Thursday, January 19th, 2012 1:52:09 by Rana Nasir GhafoorAustralia’s strike bowler, Peter Siddle does not want any rest, saying that he is keen to play every single game in order to keep his momentum going.
Having gained an unassailable 3-0 lead in the ongoing series against India, the Kangaroos are heading to Adelaide for the fourth and final Test of the competition.
The Adelaide track is likely to be entirely different from the one at WACA, where Siddle and his pace colleagues cut the Men in Blue to pieces, clinching an innings and 37-run win.
Hence, the Aussie selectors are set to bring off-spinner, Nathan Lyon back into the squad for the final game. To make space for the offie, one of the four pacers will have to sacrifice his place, but Siddle is not ready to raise his hand for the rest.
Despite being a part of the squad for last eight Tests and showing signs of exhaustion at times, the 27-year-old stated that Australia’s victories have infused a fresh energy in him.
"I wouldn’t think so. Any opportunity to play for Australia is a great honour and I definitely don’t want to give my spot up to anyone else and let them have the opportunity," Siddle said in Melbourne.
"I want to play. But we’ll have to see what happens in the future. Whether it’s the one-dayers, in the West Indies, that sort of thing. We’ll have to the discussions [about a rest] but my thoughts are definitely to play. I’ve pulled
up really good. It’s always nice to finish up in just over two days. It was quite a surprise that we got it done so early and it was good to get home for a few days. I’m feeling good, the body’s great and I’m looking forward to getting over to Adelaide," added
the Victorian pacer who has grabbed 108 wickets in 30 Tests so far.
The seamer, however, admitted that with such a hectic schedule ahead, the selectors will have to give players rest to keep them fit.
Meanwhile, Siddle expressed delight over Australia’s powerful pace attack, adding that the return of the injured players will further boosted the strength of the side.
