Rise of the Planet of the Apes – A must watch movie for everyone

20^th Century Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a 2011 science fiction flick is a reboot of the Planet of the Ape series. It is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars James Franco and Andy Serkis. The movie not only rocked the box office but
also received positive reviews.

The $93 million movie follows a chimpanzee, Caesar (Serkis), who gains human like intelligence and emotions from an experimental drug, uses its intelligence to lead other apes to freedom.

The film debut in the US and Canada on almost 5400 screens within 3,648 theatres and grossed $19.5 million on opening day, and $54.8 million in its entire opening weekend, making it number one for that weekend. It stayed at the top spot in its second weekend,
grossing $27.8 million.

The movie received generally favourable reviews with IMDB giving it a score of 7.7 out of 10 based on its 119,026 users. Metacritic gave the sci-fi film a score of 68 out of 100 based on reviews from 39 critics.

Review Aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes report 83 percent of 237 critics gave it an average score of 7.1 and praised the movie. The site’s general consensus states, “Led by Rupert Wyatt’s stylish direction, some impressive special effects, and a mesmerizing
performance by Andy Serkis, Rise of the Planet of the Apes breathes unlikely new life into a long-running franchise.”

New Yorker’s David Denby praised the movie by stating, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes is spectacle with a kick: the transcendence of the normal in creatures so like ourselves is both an entertainment and a needling rebuke to human vanity.”

Lisa Kennedy of the Denver Post gave it a score of three out of four and declared, “Tthe movie has some plot-point missteps. But it seldom puts the brakes on a story that moves toward a furious ape-human rumble, not in a jungle, but atop the Golden Gate
Bridge.”

All in all, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an epic and a must watch movie for all genre.
