Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao not happening on May 5 says Bob Arum

Bob Arum, who is the promoter of eight-division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, has revealed that his man will not fight five-division world champion and the current WBO world welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, on May 5.

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is the first $100 million fight in the history of boxing, which will most likely be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but Arum thinks filling the big stadium needs at least until the end of May.

Arum said, “Economically, it’s a problem that Floyd created. The amount that would be lost by moving it up to May 5th is enormous. The fight is not going to happen on May 5th. We’ll do the fight in November. There is no real magic in doing it in May.”

The undefeated American legend Floyd Mayweather Jnr and Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao are considered as the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. However, both fighters have never taken on each other in the ring and Olympic-style blood testing was the main reason why their fight was not being made.

Nevertheless, now when the Filipino star has agreed to the random blood testing, Mayweather wants the fight to get real as soon as possible.

“People around the world are anticipating a fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather said. “What’s been so unbelievable is that the guy said he agreed to take the random blood and urine tests, so I said, “OK, so now let’s make [the fight] happen. Let’s give the fans and the people what they want to see.”

Mayweather, who has been relentless in his pursuit of Pacquiao, has challenged Pacquiao on Twitter to fight him on May 5 because he will then be serving a 90 days jail term for assaulting his ex girl-friend.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are the biggest draws in the sport and there fight will certainly be an absolute classic. So let’s hope it somehow gets real now because it’s been a long time since boxing lovers are waiting for this fight to happen.
