Islamabad: (Thursday, January 19, 2012) Interfaith League against Poverty (I-LAP) has demonstrated its commitment towards promulgation of education for evolution of masses for the formation of a peaceful society allover again through
rebuilding five flood-affected schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
Responding to the call of duty, I-LAP had committed and signed MoU with ERRA to repair six primary and high schools left demolished by the floods in KPK last year. After completion of repair and reconstruction work on five of these
schools, they have been handed over to ERRA, while work on the sixth school is still underway and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2012. The total cost on these schools, situated in Dumkacha, Seri Naral, Shamoori Shan, Palyani Bissian and Jagir
in District Mansehra KPK, incurred by I-LAP, was 65 million rupees.
Sharing his remarks on successful and timely completion of schools reconstruction work by his organization in KPK, Chairman I-LAP, Sajid Ishaq said, “From a peace-building organization’s perspective, we see education as the foundation
of society which brings economic wealth, social prosperity and political stability to a society, and contains it from indulging into the menaces of hatred and extremism.”
Emphasizing on the need of engaging the youth into educational activities to keep them from falling into the hands of religious extremists, Mr Sajid said, “Education is the best investment for the people for it not only provides
means of socializing individuals, but also to keep society smoothing and remain stable.”
Community members, while thanking I-LAP for its timely response to a crucial need, said that knowing the paucity of funds with provincial education department, had it not been the Interfaith League against Poverty, it could have
taken years to get these schools rebuild.
