Parliamentary committee cannot summon me, I am not a Pakistani national; Mansoor Ijaz

Mansoor Ijaz, the witness and a central character to memo case said today that he was not a Pakistani national, and Pakistan’s parliamentary committee probing into the memogate scandal could not summon him.

Expressing his reservations over the summons forwarded by the parliamentary committee, Ijaz said that his legal advisor was reviewing the notice.

Clearly stating that he had not decided to appear before the committee as yet, Ijaz said that he was mulling to take up the issue with Pakistan Supreme Court. Earlier, the committee asked Mansoor to appear before it on January
26.

Now when Ijaz has got one-year multiple visa for Pakistan, his counsel in the apex court said that he was expected to appear before the commission on January 24.

Since the PPP led government is bent upon containing Mansoor to produce himself before the commission comprised of Supreme Court’s senior judges, it has been constantly releasing news about not providing him with reliable security,
charging him with cases or to put his name in the exit control list once he lands in Pakistan.

However, after intervention of the court, the interior minister Rehman Malik has said that the government will provide complete security to the US businessman.
