HP Folio 13 hits the market with a bang, one of the inexpensive ultrabooks on the horizon

Hewlett Packard (HP) unleashed a new ultrabook, HP Folio 13 in the market. Shortly after winding up their Consumer Electronics Show 2012 stint, the release of another slim notebook is a fast response to the changing market.

The main attraction at HP’s stand was the new HP Envy, a hybrid of ultrabooks and professional laptops. However, this new addition to HP’s line of slim notebooks is promising in capturing a major chunk of market.

The new laptop has the best combination of specifications and price there is in the market. However, as far as the looks go, the new machine might not have the best looks as compared to Apple’s Macbook Air and Toshiba’s Protégé.

The notebook comes with an Intel second generation core processor, the Core i5 clocked at 1.6 GHz. The machine has no moving parts in it as it incorporates 4 GB of RAM that is upgradable to 6 GB and a solid-state hard drive with a capacity to store up to 128 GB of data.

With all the required ports, HDMI, USB 3.0 and SD card reader nestled at the edges, the computer takes a leap ahead of the Macbook Air as it lakes USB 3.0, one of the most essential component for wired communication between devices.

On the other hand, the battery time has been improved from its predecessors. The new device sports a 5-7 hours of battery life, depending on the nature of work. However, unlike tablets this device can run a host of applications.

As the name suggests, Folio comes in a handy 12-inch chassis that has a 13-inch screen. The trend is growing these days to skin off thickness from the devices and HP does not lag behind.

The keyboard is LED-backlit and gives a flamboyant look to the device in the dark. However, the touch pad is a little finicky. Macbook devices still remain the king in touch pads and multi-gesture technologies.

The most amazing part of Folio and its strong suit is the price it comes with. At $899, the notebook evades many of its competitors in the market who are at least a hundred dollars expensive than this.
