Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani ‘banned’ from her homeland for posing nude!

 The Iranian actress-musician-singer, Golshifteh Farahani, who is a Crystal-Simorgh award winner, has now been banned from her homeland after she posed nude for a French magazine. As per the reports, the actress has done this to protest against the strict rules of her country’s cinema industry.

Farahani, who is winner of the Iran’s most prestigious award, has been pictured in Madame Le Figaro magazine’s article covering her breast with her hands and this news has caused a storm in her homeland because Iran strictly follows Islamic cultural policies implemented by their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

However, Farahani, who is currently settled in Paris, believes these rules have destroyed Iranian cinematic industry.

Farahani told the media that she is not totally nude in the picture first of all and secondly she has taken this step just for the sake of freedom since the actress wants Ministry of Cultural and Islamic Guide officials in Iran to remove their applied restrictions on women.

Farahani stated, “The objective is to liberate their soul and bodies at the same time. As long as an individual has no power over her or his body and their soul does not have the command of the way they wish to think, then they do not have a true freedom.

“Although I do not think looking at the nude photo of another human may have an attraction, but it is certainly far more enjoyable than looking at the fully covered and burqa and hejab wearing body of a woman who has been wrapped and imprisoned by her man. So much for not looking at women as sex symbols as the fundamentalists want us to believe!”

The 28-year-old Farahani is best known for playing a lead role opposite to Hollywood’s superstar, Leonardo DiCaprio, in the film ‘Body of Lies’, which was released back in 2008. Farahani created a huge fan base all over the world through the movie and now she is also facing a lot of criticism from them though there are a few who have appreciated her bold effort.
