Starbucks: The most successful Coffee chain in the world
Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 2:22:52 by Ahmed BabarStarbucks was founded in 1970’s with its head quarters in America. Howard Shultz joined Starbucks in 1982 and during his visit to Milan; he visited a famous coffee shop in Italy and was deeply moved by the coffee culture.
Schulz wished to have the same love for coffee in the United States. He knew that the potential was huge in the States and soon after he introduced the Lattes and the Mochas in Seattle, everybody went Coffee-Crazy.
Soon after the popularity and the quality demand of coffee began to boost, the company decided to expand its operations beyond Seattle. At present, Starbucks has about 11,068 stores only in the United States, nearly 1000 in Canada and more than 800 in Japan
with a total of 17,133 stores in 49 different countries.
Howard Schultz briefed, "What Starbucks has created around coffee is an extension of the front porch. If you look at the UK, the English pub is an extension of people’s homes but for a different beverage. Our stores have become a gathering and meeting place
in addition to the coffee".
Even after the great demand of coffee amongst the customers, Starbucks did not just stick on coffee. Unlike other coffee suppliers it was never enough for Starbucks and it always tried to dig deep in to customer’s pockets and to find ways to make customers
pay more.
Starbucks realised soon that a customer walking into the shop can buy much more than a cup of coffee. A wide range of sandwiches and pasties was introduced to go with the coffee.
Starbucks left no stones unturned in studying consumer behaviour and their stores are amongst one of the greatest places for people to rest, listen to their favourite music, surf the internet along with enjoying their favourite coffee on the comfortable
seats.
