Pakistani Police and free meals

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s police, which is mandated to safeguard the citizens’ rights, feels proud in usurping them by itself. The biggest and the most gruesome example of the police coercion is the free meals that our security men enjoy from any
restaurant them desire. What the hell this is!

In order to the quench the hunger of their hellish bellies, our police personnel dine in free of cost from a roadside vendor to a five-star restaurant in most cases. The eateries are forced to ‘entertain’ the policemen as they want to save themselves from
prosecutions and punishments of undone crimes. This is the extreme of corruption which often goes unnoticed.

Here I remember a regime changing revolution of Tunisia where a security guard tried to eat fruit from the cart of a young vendor in the capital city. What happened then was a series of protests demonstrations which ended with the change of the monarch

President
Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s long and tyrannical rule in January 2011. Moreover, it set a stage for further anti-government protests in the Arab world.

The same is the case with Pakistan but our people have turned to be stoic. We have lost dignity and self-respect. We have badly immersed in moral and monetary corruption from head to foot. No tyranny and no agony affect us. This is the sign of a dead nation.

For such type of people, the great poet, Faiz Ahmed Faiz said, “Koi tu inko ahsas-e-Zilat dila dey…..Koi tu inki soi hvi dum hila dey” (Someone must make them realize their plight, someone must shack their motionless tail).

After reading this article, most of the Pakistan’s political elite will consider me a rebel and accuse me of spreading ripples of rebellion among the public. I might be prosecuted, jailed or even killed. But none of these options will change the circumstances.

Oh our rulers, oh the self-made masters of our lives; for god sake end this oppressive system which have ruined the generations of Pakistan and will keep ruining in the future. Please let us live with peace and prosperity and act with self-respect and human
ethics.

And I appeal to the public as well to raise voice for their rights. It is an ideal time for change. If it is lost, we shall lose the right to live forever. This is the writing of the wall.
