Will Adelaide be kind to the broken Indians?
Monday, January 23rd, 2012 4:40:25 by Taha HabibAdelaide will host the fourth and the last test of the Australia-India test series with the Indians trailing by a comprehensive 3-0 margin. The Men in Blue can definitely not stage a comeback and level or draw the series, but there will be everything to
play for pride under the captaincy of Virendar Sehwag. Yes, Virendar Sehwag!!
Mahinder Singh Dhoni has been given a one test ban due to slow over rate in his last two tests as captain, and will be missing out from the starting XI. The World Cup winning skipper will have no part to play in the game and watch the action from the balcony
which has only been witnessing embarrassment since the start of their tour down under.
The ruthless Aussies, on the other hand, will be looking to complete a whitewash over the proudest and undoubtedly the most arrogant team in the world. If that will be the case than it would be India’s second successive whitewash while playing away from
home, having previously experienced it on their tour to England last year. It was again under the captaincy of Dhoni that the World Champions were unable to upstage England either in tests or in the ODI’s.
It is believed that the Adelaide wicket will help the Indian batsmen who have been going down as ‘nine pins’ since their arrival in the country. The likes of VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have been complete failure so far, but these legendary
names might have the last laugh when they take on the Aussies for the one final time in Australia. It is quite certain that the trio will not be present when the Men in Blue will go down under for their next Aussie tour.
Will the Aussies be kind enough to let these big players have the last laugh or will history repeat itself with India going down 4-0 for the second successive time in two of their toughest tours.
