Seasoned politician and a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Javed Hashmi believes that the youth of Pakistan is getting attracted towards Imran Khan because of his credibility and charismatic leadership.
Imran formed his political party about 15 years back but failed to gain major public support. However, with the passage of time, the cricketer turned politician has surely become the most popular political figure in the country.
His party came to the limelight after massive public gatherings in Lahore and Karachi late in 2011 and a number of political analysts in the country feel that PTI is going to give a very tough time to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League
(N) in the upcoming general elections.
Hashmi is one of the most respected politicians of the country and was associated with PML (N) for a long time before joining PTI last year. He feels that Imran Khan is the only honest leader in the mainstream politics of the country and this is the reason
behind him joining a party, which is yet to make its way to the national and provincial assemblies of Pakistan.
While talking about the youth rapidly joining PTI, Hashmi feels that the agenda and program of PTI attracts the general masses of the country and it is about time that Pakistan gets rid of corrupt and incompetent politicians.
Hashmi said, “They come because they feel attracted to our party’s comprehensive manifesto. I want the country’s youth to become a part of the glorious rebellion – the fight against corruption and status quo. I mutinied not only against the corrupt political
system but also against the dictators in different periods of our history. My principles remain unvarying.”
The politician from southern Punjab feels that the two major parties have let the people down and PTI is the only ray of hope for the country. He expressed that the youth has no trust on the tried and tested political parties.
“They are disillusioned with major parties, and have become our (PTI’s) asset. That is why, one sees the extraordinary number of Imran Khan’s supporters among the youth,” he added.
