Lahore: (Wednesday, January 25, 2012) Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz Ahmed today asked chief minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Shareef to render an immediate resignation from his office on his sheer negligence in
Punjab Institute of Cardiology case which took about hundred lives and many more were still counting.
Blaming CM Punjab, Riaz said, “Dozens of people have fallen victim to spurious medicines and Shahbaz Sharif instead of suspending health department officers, should step down voluntarily.”
Besides blaming Shahbaz for the negligence, the opposition leader demanded the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the issue and bring the culprits to the task. Despite the news that five of the medicine producers were arrested
and cases registered against them, Riaz alleged that no case had been filed so far. He also demanded registration of cases against drug inspectors.
Responding to a question regarding yesterday’s resolution to ban musical concerts in Punjab, Raja Riaz said that the opposition had fully opposed the resolution. He was of the view that people had the right to enjoy the music.
He also hinted toward moving another movement in the house to counter the resolution.
Slamming the Punjab government for deteriorating law and order situation, Raja Riaz alleged that the province was not better than a crime den where culprits were roaming freely and the citizens were left to their mercy.
Criticizing provincial minister for law Rana Sanaullah Khan, the opposition leader said that he was the only person who could not see mounting crime rates in the province as he was beating drums saying ‘all is well’.
