Google changes its privacy policy

Who wouldn’t have been surprised to see advertisements of travel agencies in your Gmail inbox just when you were planning your vacation? It is no accident as Google’s mail server utilizes the information it has to offer users personalized ads. However, such
situations will become more common as of March 1.

Google announced that they will change their privacy policies and unify the information each user controls on all of their products. The Internet giant announced the major shift in their conditions via their official blog.

It was explained that the company’s goal is to offer a more intuitive Google experience.  They plan to achieve their goals by monitoring the activities of each user and sharing the data they have provided to various services offered by the company.

The company has eliminated more than 60 different privacy policies of their services and has consolidated them into one. These will be implemented at the start of March with the data held on their users.

"If you’re logged into your account, you can combine the information you provided in one of the services with the information on others. In short, we will treat it as a single user on all our products," Alma Whitten said, the director of privacy and products
engineering at Google.

The changes are mandatory for all users and they cannot refuse their implementation. The only way not to accept them is to withdraw from the company’s services, which was explained through a notice which can be accessed from the home page of the search engine
giant.

According to Google’s blog, users will receive an email or a notification in which all the changes are explained.
