What is missing in iPad? Mice device compatibility – Part 1

Apple, Inc. brought a new device, iPad, in 2010 that changed the culture of tablets as we know it. The sleek and simple design was first considered as an upsize iPod and for that matter it attracted huge criticism. However, last year we saw a new tablet culture spring from the very roots of iPad.

Major technology exhibitions all over the world showcased new designs and specifications in tablets, assuring that Apple’s innovation was not a shot in the dark, not even by miles. It was a device that changed the very nature of mobile communication. However, considering tablets in general and iPad in particular, a futuristic and complete device is a mere illusion.

Tablets these days, though are very portable devices as compared to tablet-PC that were powered by Windows, have their shortcomings. The capacitive touch screens work wonders but the lack of keyboard and mouse make them second choice for people who work with words. To this day, laptop is the best choice for writers and bloggers, who have to write lengthy scripts or have to edit.

Cut, copy and paste though seem a very general demand in the current world, these are quite a hassle when it comes to tablets. Although contemporary slates have these features embedded in these source codes, the lack of mouse especially makes it annoy task.

The dearth of a physical keyboard is another issue in typing longer texts but that deficiency has been fulfilled by Zagg, Inc., who specialize in iPad compatible docks.

However, iPad in particular is in dire need of mice devices. As the iOS, Apple’s operating system for mobile devices, lacks adaptability for cursor-oriented devices, these docks lack track-pads and touch-pads.

Although dock devices like ZaggFolio are very attractive and comfortable to use, they only go as far as typing is concerned. For functions like copying a text or inserting a link or a picture in the write-up, the touch screen has to be used, which becomes awkward while using a dock device.
