There have been talks that iPad and iOS combined will replace laptops in the near future with the help of additional peripherals like ZaggFolio. However, these devices need the oomph of track-pads, otherwise their hands are tied to bring forth a new device that could have the potential to humble the laptop line.

Although the docks are attractive and fulfil the purpose of a writer as far as the typing goes but as the iOS is evolving exponentially, bringing in applications that heavily feed on both CPUs and GPUs into the fold, these devices have limited application.

The iOS is in the process of incremental upgrades and is not only adapting the features of desktop computing by the day, it is also inspiring many others, including Mac OS X. The latest version of the Mac OS, the Lion is one prominent example of the case; the upcoming Windows 8 is another example that shows tablets might take over personal computing in the coming years.

However, no matter how advance iOS or Android become, the usability of mice devices cannot be overlooked. Many applications require the services of track-pads, let alone copy, paste functions.

Asus Transformer Prime made a bold statement in this regard with $150 dock that comes optional with the device. It has incorporated the mouse pad along with the keyboard and slowly the device is gaining fame among gaming enthusiasts and even normal users for that matter.

The only thing expected of Apple in iOS is compatibility of track-pads in the operating system, rest can be taken over by companies like Zagg, who have the potential of take the technology to another level.
