People protest against deaths resulting by the use of contaminated medicines
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 5:12:52 by Muhammad Ahmad NazirLahore, January 25: People have not yet forgot the severity of Dengue fever and received another shocking ailment in the form of contaminated medicines which are causing deaths in different hospitals of Lahore.
More than 250 patients are in critical condition after the use of these medicines and the death toll has reached at 70. A huge number of people protested in front of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore, against the deaths of their
relatives as a result of using these medicines.
They also showed their anger against the indifference of Punjab government and the Health Department as no action has been taken so far against the responsible people.
They want immediate action against the responsible people and authorities whose negligence has taken the lives of 70 people and more than 250 are in critical condition in different hospitals as a result of the use of adulterated medicines.
Among the protesters were men, women and children, who gathered in front of PIC and protested against the responsible people of PIC, government of Punjab and Health Department of Punjab.
According to the protesters, innocent people have died after using these contaminated medicines and numerous are in critical condition.
But no action from the Punjab government has been taken against those who are responsible of this grave situation.
They also showed their anger on the fact that Health Department and PIC have not responded over the issue which is quite disapproving. They also showed their fear that more casualties are expected because of the intake of contaminated drugs.
The protesters were holding placards that had slogans against the Health Department. They said that they want the government to register cases criminal cases against the responsible because they are involved in this killing act.
They also said that many infected patients, who were in their initial stage of disease, contacted the PIC doctors but these doctors did not pay any heed to the issue are also responsible for the deaths of patients.
The government formed a committee comprising on doctors to investigate the issue of the deaths of patients as a result of the use of adulterated medicines.
But the protesters want Chief Justice of Pakistan to take the notice of this issue on immediate basis.
