Adulterated drugs swallow three more people in Lahore

Lahore, January 26: There are three more patients died as a result of using the adulterated drugs in different areas of Lahore and it takes the number of casualties to 72.

The contaminated medicines, which were provided by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), have affected more than three hundred people besides 72 deaths in different hospitals of the city.

The recent three people who died on Wednesday were Bilquees Bibi, Rana and Sher Muhammad. Almost three hundred people have been admitted in hospitals as a result of in-taking the adulterated medicines.

However, Health Department claims that more than 170 patients have been saved so far who also used these drugs. According to the official, these recovered patients were admitted in Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital.

However, there are still more than 270 patients who are under treatment in different hospitals of Lahore including Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, General Hospital, Khawaja Saeed Hospital and in the above mentioned hospitals.

Dr Saeed Elahi, the Parliamentary Health Secretary and MPA’s including Bilal Yasin, Imran Nazir and Salman Rafique have distributed a 30,000 to each patient who is under treatment in various hospitals of Lahore.

These people distributed this amount on behalf of the Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif.

However, the most disappointing fact is that no action has been taken so far against the responsible people whose ignorance or incompetency has caused this huge loss.

People from all over the city are afraid of using medicines at the moment because they are not sure whether the medicine is contaminated or not.

The Punjab government needs to take strict action against those who are responsible for the deaths of people. There are about 150 people who are still in critical condition at the moment.

Such incompetency cannot be tolerated at any cost but Punjab government has not taken any measure in this regard.

On Tuesday, people protested in front of PIC against the responsible people and their main demand from the Punjab government and Chief Justice of Pakistan was to take strict action against those people who are responsible for this grieve situation.
