The Academy Epidemic in Pakistan

In any developing/developed nation, having many flourishing universities and educational institutions is always a good sign as it denotes that the society loves to learn and impart knowledge on others.
What the problem could be is if our students and teachers focus on learning and teaching outside of those faculties in order to expand their own businesses and fill their pockets with money that could be spent elsewhere.
Including my own self, we as students, have become too reliable on academies and third party institutions in order to prepare for our exams instead of actually learning something.
Education overall in Pakistan is certainly one of the worst possible examples throughout the world but due to the academy culture which has flourished into a multi-billion rupee a year business in this sub-continent including India and Bangladesh, it is
not a matter of learning anymore but just getting through that is the main objective.
Whoever has watched Amitabh Bachchan’s, Aarakshan, knows exactly what I am talking about since the movie shows how professors in world class institutions, use their influence to build up their businesses and grab students, forcing them to attend their private
academies while giving the impression that studying in the university is not the way to go.
The same exact thing is going on in Pakistan as students are not taught properly while the teachers tell them to come to their academies for further classes that would help them.
The question here arises is why would someone pay hundreds of thousands of rupees for a college education and still feel the need to be forced into attending evening classes, irrespective of the field they might be studying.
Nowadays, there is an academy for every single person, ranging from pre-school academies to full on law classes for LL.B students and even MBA professionals.
While academies might be good for students looking for some extra help in subjects they might find difficult like math and physics, but making it a permanent solution to every grade and class has just taught us to cram for our exams a month before they actually
take place instead of actually learning anything.
Our education departments should take notice of this as every neighbourhood has a few well known academies nearby along with ensuring that students that spend their parents hard earned money in public and private sector institutions actually are learning
something.
