The Top Android tablets that received top response in the market – Part 1
Friday, January 27th, 2012 5:14:43 by Usman KhalidTablet culture has planted its footing in the modern technology world; even latest laptops are built on the lines of tablets since they are slim and ultra portable. 2011 was unanimously declared the year of tablets as the world saw a slew of slates from iPad 2 to numerous Android-based devices.
However, since the Apple flagship product lacks a number of features from an HD camera to quad-core processor, the Android-tablet market is gaining momentum.
The main reason why Android-based laptops are so popular among the masses is because they range from 5-inch screens (Dell Streak 5, Galaxy Note) to 10 inches (Galaxy 10.1, Asus Transformer Prime) and many of them boast HD cameras. However, the operating system has its highs and lows but the overall physique and structure of these tablets force the user to overlook the stuttering OS.
Following are some of Android-based tablets that received prime response from the public during 2011 and 2012.
1. Amazon Kindle Fire
Although Amazon is the pioneer of current structure of tablets—its first Kindle was released in 2007—the release of original iPad in 2010 changed the rules of the game. Last year however, Amazon unleashed a 7-inch tablet named Kindle Fire that is not only handy to read books but also colourful enough for movie watching and web browsing.
The tablet though lacks a dual-core processor and daylight reading capabilities but the slate of applications available on Amazon’s Android market and the low price tag gives the device enough oomph to beat the brains out of any counterpart in the market, iPad being one of them.
For $199, the tablet is at least $300 cheaper than many of its competitors in the market. Although the screen is small, lacks a gyroscope and the device is not so hot among gaming fanatics, it is one of the best choice for book reading and web browsing, in addition to listening to music and watching movies.
More is expected in the next edition of the Fire, in which Amazon might include a Bluetooth transmitter and gyroscope to make it optimal for gaming.
There are more rumours that Amazon might launch a 10-inch version of the Fire to cater to the customers who like bigger and sharper screens.
Although the company has massively tweaked the operating system inside unlike HTC, who have their own HTC Sense for the home screen. However, still the laptop has the Android open source source-code and falls in the Android Tablets category.
