All is not lost for the Indian team and Sachin Tendulkar
Saturday, January 28th, 2012 12:58:12 by Taha HabibWith India going down 4-0 at the hands of Australia and suffering their second successive whitewash abroad, it is assumed that a few of the big name cricketers such as Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman might call it a day in their careers sooner rather later.
However, Sachin Tendulkar will definitely not even think of quitting the game prior to getting century of centuries; a feat that no cricketer might not be able to achieve until he is the next Don Bradman or Tendulkar.
Australia completed the whitewash on the fifth morning of the last test match by dismissing the remaining four Indian batsmen for 36 runs. Ryan Harris picked up Ishant Sharma before Peter Siddle sent Wriddhiman Saha back to the pavilion. Ben Hilfenhaus
got better of Zaheer Khan and Nathan Lyon picked up the last wicket to finish with a four-wicket haul in the second innings.
The question arises whether the Indian selectors will stick with the same combination or will Rohit Sharma finally get his opportunity in the test side. The youngster has already proved himself in the past and richly deserves to be included in the playing
XI possibly in place of under-pressure, Laxman.
This loss also pulled the shutters down on the legendary batsman, Tendulkar, who will definitely not become the part of this Indian team when they will land again in Australia for a bilateral series. A majority of the cricket fans seemed happy when Tendulkar
failed to bring up his 100th century in eight test innings. Being a cricket lover and true fan, i honestly believe that Sachin must now bring up this milestone before it’s too late for the veteran.
Tendulkar will have his opportunity during the upcoming tri series in Australia which also involves Srilanka. It is believed that the Men in Blue will perform a lot better than what they achieved during the test series. Therefore, all is not lost for the
Indian team and all the 15-men must focus their attention to the upcoming T20 and ODI series.
