His first Tour was the Canadian Professional Golf Tour and straight away won two tournaments. Stricker had a few quite years after that but in 1996 he had his most successful season on tour when he notched up two victories at the Motorola Western Open and the Kemper Open. He had seven Top 10 finishes on his way to finishing 4th on the PGA tour money list.
In 1998 Stricker came awfully close to winning his first major at the final round of the PGA Championship, but the tour veteran Vijay Singh (India) had other plans and beat Stricker with the help of a surge of back-nine and achieving a two-stroke victory.
The year 2001 saw Stricker get his third and most impressive win at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, where he earned the $1,000,000 prize.
Stricker was voted the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year in 2006, mainly due to his seven Top 10 finishes. Stricker made full use of his form and continued his success towards 2007 by qualifying for the Presidents Cup. Another highlight of Stricker’s career came in 2007 when he ended the 11 year losing streak on American soil by claiming the Barclays tournament. The tournament win moved Stricker to the 4th spot in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
At the Mercedes Benz Championship in 2008, Daniel Chopra was the player to give Stricker another close finish but eluded him from winning. The result although moved Stricker to 3rd in the OWGR.
2009 saw Stricker win his fifth and sixth PGA Tour title tournament on tour, with a playoff win over Tim Clark and Steve Marion and the win at the John Deere Classic. In September Stricker scored his 7thwin came at the Deutsche Bank Championship only by one stroke over Jason Dufner and Scott Verplank.
Stricker got his 8th PGA Tour title in February 2010 which moved him to the 2nd spot in the OWGR for the 2nd time in his career. Stricker added another big title to his bag by claiming a victory at the 2011 Memorial Tournament, which was his 10th PGA Tour title.
Stricker won his 11th PGA Tour title in his second tournament of the year 2011 at the John Deere Classic, beating Kyle Stanley by one stroke. This was Stricker’s third John Deere Classic victory in a row, and becoming only the 10th golfer to win a tournament three straight times since World War II.
Stricker is a great player one of the finest in the world, the only blemish in his illustrious career would be that he has never won a major. Stricker is actually considered as of the best players without winning a major, the closest he has ever been to it was in 1998 at the PGA Championship. At an age of 44, Stricker wants a Major Title win badly, and it would definitely move him closer to the top spot, if he maintains his rank in the top 5.
