Chrysler 300 SRT8 – New 2012 model is up for grabs – Part 1
Monday, January 30th, 2012 2:37:36 by Usman KhalidChrysler Motors unleashed a new beast on the tarmac this week, the 300 SRT8. The car is a musical marriage of old thunder with the modern lightening. In the front, it has a brute living in the bonnet and the power goes to rear wheels, just like old times. The traction control gives the modern touch along with other flashy technology.
The exterior is as flamboyant as it gets in a classy Chrysler with suiting wheels and attractive paint jobs. With appropriate aerodynamic cuts, the car is a ‘beauty’ from every angle, and when buried the foot down on the pedal, it becomes the ‘beast’ that will outrun many of its peers in the market.
The standard length of a sedan makes way to a standard boot at the rear end and a long hood that accommodates not only the engine but all the electronic gismos that a man can imagine in a $47,470 car.
Under the hood lies a massive 6.4 Litre Hemi V-8 engine that is one of the biggest power suppliers in the category of sedans. This V-8 produces 470 horsepower and as much pound-feet torque to the rear wheels to take the car to lightening speeds. However, that is only a touch of the old times when power was the inheritance of the rear wheels in US-made cars. With a hint of new technology, the tractions now comes into equation and gives required stability to the vehicle in high-speed drives.
The 6.4 Litre engine displaces the car from stand still to 60 miles per hour in a mesmerizing time that is just shy of five seconds. If this performance is good than see the quarter-mile commute which SRT8 completes in less than 13 seconds. The power of this animal is limited at 175 mph due to safety reasons.
However, the outside is just a teaser to what resides inside the cabin. Waterlogged with a host of electronic gismos, car gives every luxury that can be expected in under $50,000 and never prepossesses the driver with handling all of it.
