China has been accused of cyber attack on US-China Economic and Security Review Commission. The attack was earlier thought to be originated from India but now the investigation has found
connections to China. There is a doubt that the hands responsible for the attack are more operatives in China rather than India.
The hackers of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission hacked into the emails of an official US commission that monitors relations between the United States and China, according
to a US official.
The hacking of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission was done earlier this month by an amateur "hacktivist" group who call themselves "The Lords of Dhararaja". The group
purported to operate in India and published that it was a memo from an Indian Military Intelligence with attached commission emails.
According to the Guardian’s own investigation, alongside that by Reuters, the statements about the memo, which claimed that companies like Nokia, BlackBerry-maker RIM and Apple gave a
back door to the Indian government and military to spy on data traffic and conversations, were almost certainly fake. However, the emails appeared were authentic.
According to the Reuters’ investigation on a large cache of raw email data from the security breach, the principal target of the intruders was a Washington-based non-governmental pro-trade
group called the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC).
William Reinsch, a former top US Commerce Department official, is the head of NTFC serves as the US-China Commission’s chairman. However, the US officials denied any indication of hackers
managing to gain access to electronic files related to the commission’s most sensitive project.
