The Grey was released on January 27th, 2012 and it grossed $20 million from its opening three days weekend. The movie is directed by Joe Carnahan and produced by Ridley Scott.
The movie centres on Liam Neeson who leads an unruly group of oil rig team when their plane crashes into remote areas of Alaska. They face several problems including weather, injuries and the most dangerous – a pack of rougue wolves on the hunt.
The world premier of the movie took place on January 11th, 2012 at the Regal Cinemas Theatre in Los Angeles.
Marketing partnered with The Weather Network to highlight the hazardous filming conditions.
The score of the film will be released on the valentine’s day,, however, a digital version was available for download on January 24th,2012 in advance of the film. All the songs are written and composed by Marc Streitenfeld.
The $25 million budgeted movie received critical acclaim worldwide. Review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes report 78 percent of 139 critics gave positive score, with an average rating of 6.7 out of 10. The site’s general consensus states, “The Grey is an exciting
tale of survival, populated with fleshed-out characters and a surprising philosophical agenda.”
Mark Ramsey of the Movie Juice gave it a score of A and stated, “’I don’t see this movie ending well,’ said a member of Liam’s tribe, ‘unless the wolves start talking to each other with the voices of Ian McKellen and Jeremy Irons.”
Newark Star-Ledger’s film critic, Stephen Whitty, gave an average rating of 2.4 out of four and said, “Somewhere along the line, apparently, it was decided that having men fight for their lives is not enough to hang a movie on. It has to be a movie about
Big Ideas.”
Tom Long of the Detroit News had a different review. He gave the flick a D rating and declared, “
"The Grey" may appeal to those who like entrails, tough talk and bad endings. All others beware.”
Overall, the Grey is a must watch movie for all genre.
