Islamabad: (Wednesday, February 01, 2012) Federal Cabinet has decided to convene a meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) on 9th of this month to discuss the issue of Drug Regulatory Authority (DRA) with provinces
at length and to fix it once for all.
Today, while briefing the media reporters on cabinet meeting, Minister for Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the Chief Minister Punjab should focus on playing his constitutional role, rather than playing politics.
Dr. Awan was of the view that Mr. Shahbaz Sharif should be self accounting instead of pointing fingers at the federal government.
Commenting on the petroleum price hike, the information minister said that the government was still undercharging citizens on POL products. She said the government had the target to collect 120 billion tax on petroleum products
in six months, while with the aim to not to overburden the masses, it had only collected 20 billion out of the set target.
She told the reporters that the federal cabinet had expressed concerns over the price hike, however, she said that ministry of finance insisted that given the increasing petroleum prices in the international market, it was a compulsion
to follow.
