Shahid Afridi confident of Pakistan’s whitewash win against England

Former Pakistan skipper, Shahid Afridi believes Misbah-ul-Haq and men are well capable of imposing a 3-0 clean-sweep victory on world’s number one Test side, England.

At the moment, Team Green has an unassailable 2-0 lead in hand, courtesy to Pakistan’s fabulous performance in the opening two Tests of the series.

The third Test is set to be played at Dubai this week, and Afridi is sure about Pakistan’s dominant show in the final encounter.

"I think Pakistan will complete a clean sweep in the third Test. They can whitewash England," Afridi told reporters.

The flamboyant all-rounder feels that Pakistan have a psychological edge over England, and the tourists will certainly be under enormous pressure in the next Test.

“I see this series as the best opportunity for Pakistan to win the series 3-0. As they keep on winning they are getting hungrier for success and that is always the first sign of a team turning into a top class side. Another good thing is that all the players
realise their responsibility and are contributing and supporting each other on the field," he added.

The Cornered Tigers clinched a handsome 10-wicket victory in the opening game, thanks to Saeed Ajmal’s 10 scalps in the contest.

Maintaining their upper hand in the contest, the hosts performed even better in the second match.

Defending 144, the Englishmen were bundles out for 72 runs in the final innings, as the Pakistani spinners dominated the proceedings all the way through.

The former skipper was all praise for the team’s excellent show in the first two games. The side has been producing excellent results over the last couple of years. And Afridi is happy to see his side making winning a habit.

"After winning the first two Tests, the morale and confidence in the team is very high. Pakistan has the potential to be as good as the Australians were at one time,” shared the aggressive all-rounder who will join the crew for the upcoming T20 and ODI clash
against the Poms.

Afridi led Pakistan to the World Cup semi-final last year, but quit captaincy following a conflict with PCB.
