the ministry has already short-listed 14 candidates for the top spot in countries largest explorer of Oil and Gas exploration company.

A total of 740 candidates applied for the vacant post of which the Petroleum Ministry has narrowed down the list to just 14. Out of these 14 contenders, five are internal while the remaining nine contestants are from other institutions
(external candidates).

Shortlisted candidates from OGDCL, include Basharat Mirza (acting Managing Director), Aftab Ahmad (Executive Director Business and Strategy Planning), Riaz Khan (acting Executive Director Production), Zafar Chaudhry (General Manager
Health Safety Environment and Quality) and  Zahid Farani (General Manager Exploration).

amongst others. Mirza has already been heading the company for a period of six months, while the other shortlisted personals do not have the same expertise as him in this regard.

One of the notable accomplishment of Mirza as the acting MD was the Kunnar Pasakhi Deep (KPD). The KPD field was put on hold since 2005 but Mirza was able to make it work again in the month of January. The project is estimated
to generate 100 million cubic feet gas per day while it will also produce 120 metric ton of LPG, once the completion of first phase.
