Shahbaz Sharif ultimately gives up

Following the fake drugs imbroglio that claimed lives of over a 100 people , Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has ceded, quitting eight out of total eighteen portfolios he has and awarding them to close aides.

No other party would uphold the tension come from a provincial chief having eighteen portfolios but absolutely not the PML-N.

Following a difficult electoral process, legislators make into the legislative assemblies. Although party tickets make things easy, only a handful members of the house make it their by hanging on to the coat-tails of a popular political group.

A slot in the legislative assembly is preceded by frequently making visits in the constituencies, resolving local rivalries and upholding continued contact throughout one’s term if one is returning contender. Trust is one of the major components of a party to offer support to its candidates.

The CM Punjab is conning not only his party workers but the institution of his party as well by not trusting any of these individuals. In quite a quick move, the media and public brought up the health portfolio in result of the counterfeit drugs catastrophe.

Even if there had been a full-time health minister in the province, the sad episode of contaminated drugs still might have happened.

However, the possibility of an enthusiastic minister having more time to think about reconstituting drug inspection protocols would have been more bully.

Apparently the bureaucracy is running the province. The right mode to treat the bureaucracy is divided into two steps. First way is to perturb them from their majestic pretensions while second one is to give respect as servants of the state should be.

The provincial government is doing exactly opposite, endowing the bureaucracy more than it ever should be and yet the chief minister is renowned for his summary executions and incomprehensible fierce fits towards them.

The PML-N will have to realize that life is not much beautiful anymore when it is struggling to place itself in its new anti-establishment incarnation.

If it does not handle the ball well, the things will fall apart. The quitter of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi will be a sheer first if the party doesn’t treat its elected members in a better way. Furthermore, it will also impact good governance of the incumbent as well.
