How Pakistan should line-up for upcoming friendlies

Newspakistan analyzes the best starting line-up possible for the upcoming friendlies taking place at the end of February.

Goalkeeper: Jaffar Khan (C)

The Army man put in some impressive performances during the SAFF Cup and is rated by Zavisa Milosavljevic as the best goalkeeper in the country.

Jaffar has experienced a major revival under the Serbian, which is a long shot from his days under Tariq Lutfi. Particularly in the World Cup qualifiers, the veteran shot stopper was at fault for two goals and handed Bangladesh the advantage.

However that was in the past and he should retain his place for the upcoming friendlies.

Right-Back: Rizwan Asif

Tariq Lutfi called him non-committed, but the way Rizwan Asif performed in the SAFF Cup, his determination was there for all to witness. He showed his undying commitment to the team by putting his body on the line against Nepal and while he is a midfielder
by choice, Milosavljevic is likely to retain him in the wingback role.

Centre-Back: Nabil Aslam

While the central-defensive pairing of Kamran Khan and Samar Ishaq put in a professional display during the SAFF Cup, Nabil Aslam and Zeeshan Rehman should be tested for this one, as both of them will be available on the FIFA Match day.

Aslam, who plys his trade at AC Horsens in the Danish Super Liga, is one the verge of playing in the UEFA Europa League and his class remains undoubted. A definite no-brainer, his inclusion is a must if he is free and fit for the clash.

Centre-Back: Zeeshan Rehman

A Pakistani icon due to his earlier Premiership days, football fans in the country are going wild with the possibility of Rehman and Nabil Aslam at the heart of the defence. Both are seasoned professionals and could potentially make the backline, an impenetrable
solid wall.  

Having recently signed for Kitchee SC of Hong Kong, the former Fulham man is closer to the country and stands a great chance of forming a devastating partnership with his Danish counterpart if the coach picks them both.
