Hugo gets mixed reviews despite being nominated for Golden Globe

The story is based on Hugo Cabret, a 12-year-old boy who is an orphan and lives in the walls of a train station in Paris. Soon he identifies a mystery surrounding his father, a broken robot and himself. Having met an eccentric girl and a cold reserved man
who is a toy shop owner, Hugo sets on a fascinating and a magical journey which could be harmful to his secrets.
However, the movie failed to breakeven at the box office. In spite of this, the film has been nominated for 11 Academy Awards including the Best Picture and the Best Director. It became the most nominated film of 2011 at this award event.
The 170 million budgeted Hugo received good reviews from critics worldwide. A famous movie site, internet movie database (IMDB) gave it a score of 8.2 out of 10, while a review aggregator site, Metacritic, gave it a score of 83 out of 100.
THQ and Paramount Digital Entertainment have also made a game based on the flick. It will be released on the Nintendo Ds and Nintendo 3DS with Jude Law reprising his role as Hugo’s father while Joshua Seth will star as the character of Hugo in place of Butterfeld.
Jordan Raup from The Film Stage declared, “Martin Scorsese’s Hugo enthralling dose of film history from cinema’s greatest admirer.”
Cine Blend stated, “Scorsese’s Hugo, even unfinished, may be the best live-action 3D film ever.”
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a Certified Fresh rating and reported that 94 percent of critics gave it positive scores. The site’s general consensus states, “Hugo is an extravagant, elegant fantasy with an innocence lacking in many modern kids’ movies, and one
that emanates an unabashed love for the magic of cinema.”
