Islamabad: (Tuesday, February 07, 2012) Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said today that although there had not been any major achievement with regard to 20th constitutional amendment,
but they were hopeful to achieve a headway on it by tomorrow.
Commenting on today’s session that sat together to reach to a consensus, Nisar sad no significant achievement could be marked. To him, while PML-N reiterated its earlier stance, the other stakeholders did not agree to support it.
The opposition leader in the house was of the view that suspension of the legislators was not their own fault; rather, it was the chief election commissioner who was to be held responsible for it.
To him, under the Constitution, extension could not be granted to chief election commission in his office term.
Adding to his remarks, Nisar said his party wanted to have an interim Prime Minister who enjoyed complete consensus of the entire nation. To him, it was important for the interim PM to have the ability to hold transparent elections.
Commenting over having consultation with the government on important issues, the leader of the opposition said, “We have serious reservations over the word ‘consultation’….. the government only uses it as an information.” He said,
“the government does not consult, it only informs”.
