Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley confirmed for June 9

Manny Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz, has confirmed that his man has agreed to take on the current WBO light welterweight champion and former two-time WBC light welterweight champion, Timothy Bradley, on June 9 this year.

The eight-division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion, Pacquiao, will now defend his title against Bradley at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“From our end, the fight is done. I just got off the phone with (Top Rank’s) Bob Arum and Manny, so we’re done. I don’t assume there will be a problem from the Bradley side,” said Koncz, in a report by ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael.

The Desert Strom, Bradley, has yet not signed on the dotted line because he probably wants to discuss the details of the fight with Top Rank president, Todd duBoef. However, Todd is hopeful that the fight will be made.

“We are going to be having further conversations with Bradley and his management early this week and hopefully finalize the deal,” duBoef said. “But the truth is my (promotional) agreement with Bradley lays out certain parameters for a Pacquiao fight, so there is a framework already.”

In the meantime, Koncz commented on the five-division world champion and the current WBC welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather Jnr, as he was one of the four names who were considered to be Pacquiao’s first opponent in 2012.

The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, challenged Pacquiao for a May 5 bout but the deal was cancelled by the Filipino star when Mayweather offered him a 70/30 split.

Koncz stated Mayweather Jnr always ducks Pacquiao as a result to which they already had a backup plan for their fighter.

“We’ve been talking about this for over a month and we always had a Plan B in case Mayweather didn’t happen,” Koncz said.

Well, all said and done, let’s see if Pacquiao can pass Bradley test because the 28-year-old Bradley has never been defeated in the ring as of yet.
