‘Agneepath’ crosses Rs. 100 crore mark at the Indian box office

Karan Malhotra’s ‘Agneepath’ has finally crossed Rs. 100 crore mark at the Indian Box Office in the second weekend, thus becoming the first movie to cross this deadline in 2012.

‘Agneepath’, which is a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1990 cult classic of the same name, was released on January 23 this year and the much-anticipated film collected an amount of Rs. 23 crore on its opening day, which is a record.

Though the film’s business dropped in the following days, it did well on the weekends and concluded the first week with Rs. 91.05 crore. In the second weekend the film racked in another Rs. 15.25 crore to make a grand total of Rs. 106 crore at the box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has also shared the facts on his Twitter accounts.

“Agneepath is the latest entrant in 100 cr nett Club. Collected Rs 15.25 cr nett in Wknd 2, taking total to Rs 106.3 cr nett. Super Hit,” tweeted trade expert Taran Adarsh.

“Agneepath collects 91.05 cr nett. Thu 23 cr, Fri 12.75 cr, Sat 14.5 cr, Sun 17.25 cr, Mon 7.5 cr, Tue 6.4 cr, Wed 5.4 cr, Thu 4.25 cr,” Adarsh tweeted the break-up.

‘Agneepath’ featured Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan in the lead role of ‘Vijay Deenanath Chauhan’ whereas former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra, played a role opposite to Hrithik. Meanwhile, the likes of Sunjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor have played negative roles in the movie.

Hrithik, who has garnered huge appericiation and contribution from its supporters, was very excited with the movie’s opening day business and he vowed his fans of giving another treat in the form of ‘Krrish 2’, which is a sequel of the 2006 release ‘Krrish’.
